One of the first wildflowers to pop up among the dry brown leaves in Pa. during spring is the Trout Lily, with the spotted green leaf, which gives them their name as it resembles the markings on trout. The flowers look similar to tiny orchids and are very elegant. They remind me of tiny fairy dancers on the breeze. They can be found quite often on the banks of woodland streams.
